 The genesis of the KV :
Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom, which is crowned with the title of the SMART SCHOOL in the state is deemed to be one of the first generation institutions of its kind in our country under KVS. It was stablished in 1964 under the able guidance of the founder Principal Smt. Gomathy Krishnanand. Important milestones of growth: a) 1964-School started functioning.
b) 5 Acres of land given by Govt. of Kerala
c) 1968- New building inaugurated
d) 1982-Science Block added.
e) 1969- First batch of Higher Secondary Student ( Class XI) presented for Higher Secondary Examination CBSE.
f) 1977- 10+2 System started..
g) 1996 – Declared as Model KV
h) 1998 – Primary Block Inaugurated.
i) 10.09.2004 – Second Shift started functioning.
j) Aug- 2008 - Fully automated library Inaugurated. Gradual Year wise expansion a) 1964- KV Pattom started functioning – classes upto VI
b) 1967 – First batch of class IX presented.
c) 1969- First batch of class XI presented.
d) 1977- 10+2 System started
e) 1979- First batch of Class XII presented
f) 1998 – One more additional Section each started from Class I to X
g) 2004- Second Shift started functioning with 2 sections each in class 1 to VII and one each from 8 to 11
h) 2009 – One more section each added from Class I to V in the Second Shift. |

INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES CLASS ROOMS | The Vidyalaya is having 50 well furnished class rooms with necessary electrical fittings and provision for various technology aided learning items. |
RESOURCE CENTRE | The Vidyalaya has a large hall that is developed as a RESOURCE CENTRE with computer, LCD Projector, 29" TV, DVD Player Over Head Projector and PA system. It is utilized for computer aided teaching of different subjects, conduct of Workshops and Special Programmes on Guidance and Counselling, Value Education, NAEP program etc. In the Primary section also a resource centre is available with the same facilities. |
LABORATORIES COMPUTER LABS
| There are 3 computer labs in the Vidyalaya for different groups of students: [1] for Primary Section with 20 computers, [2] for Juniors:VI-X, with 30 computers, and [3] Elective Students of XI & XII with 20 computers. The computer department has educational CDs on all subjects. Teachers are provided with CDs and Floppies for preparing their lessons for class room interaction at the Resource Centre. The students use the lab with internet facility for logging in to the think.com website and do projects and interact with students and teachers. Computer Science is taught as an Elective subject for Science students at the +2 level and Informatics Practices for the Commerce and Humanities Streams. The Lab for these students is equipped with all softwares required for their studies. |
PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY LABS
| K V Pattom can brag of impeccable and well maintained science labs namely the physics, chemistry and biology which are mostly used by the senior students. These are fully equipped with every kind of modern apparatus required for the AISSE Practical Examinations as prescribed by the Central Board Secondary Education. The labs are also well stocked with models (still and working), charts and other specimen required for the proper understanding of the science subjects and Computers The Vidyalaya has a well-equipped Physics Lab, especially for the classes IX-XII students. The Lab has all the necessary equipments and apparatus. The Practicals are done as per the schedule planned and displayed in the Lab. |
The Chemistry lab has the following facilities
1) Thirty students can do practicals at a time.
2) LPG supply is provided beside every seat.
3) Students from class IX to XII of first and second shift are using the lab.
4) The laboratory has sufficient for doing practicals up to class XII.
5) The laboratory has all the non-consumables required for practicals up to higher secondary stage.
6) The lab is having chemical and electronic balances. The Biology Lab is well-equipped with all the basic facilities for the students up to class XII. We have very good collections of bottle specimens, prepared slides stuffed materials charts etc. Our lab is also enriched with water bath Binocular Microscope, PH meter, Sphigmomanometer, Haemoglobinometer, Haemocytometer, Overhead projector, original Human Skeleton etc. All these materials are arranged systematically inside the lab at the easy reach of the students. Bio-Technology Lab The construction of the lab is complete and the Vidyalaya has made plans to equip the lab with modern facilities.
JUNIOR SCIENCE LAB
This lab is used by the students from classes VI to X. The lab contains facilities for carrying out the practicals in the subjects - physics ,chemistry & biology. CHILDREN'S PARK & ADVENTURE PARK  
The Vidyalaya has developed a Children's Park and an Adventure park for the tiny tots of Primary Section. It is equipped with a Merry Go-Round, Ladder & Slide, Rainbow, Jingle Jim, Jack & Jill, Revolving drum, Parallel bars, Balancing bar ,Portable semi-circular sea-saw etc. FOR SPORTS AND GAMES
The Vidyalaya gives coaching in various games and sports with help of expert coaches. We have a Basket Ball Court, Badminton Court, Volley Ball Court, Foot Ball and Cricket Field. Skating rink is available in front of the Primary block and also in the quadrangle. |
